Fri, March 31 Gator Boy’s Juke Joint

Come revel in righteous rhythms and hip-swingin’ vibes on this special 5th Friday at Eagles Mother Aerie (8201 Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115), 6pm happy hour, 6:15pm dance lesson (Cha Cha Cha), 7-9:30pm dance, $10 minimum recommended. About the lesson: The Cha Cha is a really fun rhythm with ample opportunity for playfulness and musicality. We’ll cover the basics and work our way into a few snappy moves and solo shines. Delight in dancing, community, and unbounded merriment with your DJ, the Gator Boy. Great dancers, super friendly people, a fully-stocked bar and Mike, your stellar bartender. Masks optional, however, the Club asks you keep your mask handy for ordering at the bar. Thank you!

Zydeco Dance Series

Tue, March 28 | Zydeco 2023 Workshops

Seattle, take your Zydeco to another level! In this workshop series we’ll build upon signature elements and use short routines and combinations to help you retain material, each class starting out sweating fundamentals then launching into challenges with emphasis on fun and eureka moments with Sean “Gator Boy” Donovan & Erika Olsen. Workshops on Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm, $35 adv / $40 door. Apr.4 Whiskey River Jitterbug With apologies to Muddy Waters, Zydeco and Swing had a baby and they named it WRJ! Fast footwork, snappy style, and transitions into and out of Swing make this unique dance a versatile and eye-catching delight. (see FB event)

Apr.11 Zydeco Style: Slide We’ll tackle what could be the most significant development in Zydeco dancing styling these past two decades, a variation on the basic that floats like a butterfly and adds zing to your Z. (see FB event)

Apr.18 Zydeco Style: Pivots & Turns Stylish turns and smooth pivots as a couple continue to evolve along with Zydeco, and the techniques we practice in this workshop could benefit all your dances. (see FB event)

Apr.25 Zydeco Style: New & Smooth Zydeco is a living, ever-evolving dance, and the latest version seems to be interacting with smoother vibes in the music, adding overhead turns and ultra-smooth connection and moves to the mix. (see FB event)
